Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal (The Twelves Remix)

The Twelves are just 2 dudes fom South america who 1. know how to party and 2. know how to make music for a party. You just have to check out their 30 minute mixtape to hear a whole selection of their remixes and other fave hits mashed up into one contiuous mix that will make you want to dance like Ed from Friendly Fires in their latest video:

So, while everyone else is crying about how Kelly Clarkson ripped off Beyonce, go and indulge yourself in their myspace and check out some of their amazing remixes (as well as a couple of their own cheeky tracks). They’re a huge inspiration to me and I only hope that one day I can pull off yellow sunglasses and facial hair.

This year they’ve become one of the most relied upon remix duo’s in the biz, and you know if they start cutting up and fondling someone’s track, it is going to sound HUGE.

Hit me on Twitt - errr wait a second

..IS DOWN!

Bad news for me, because I think I’m a little bit obsessed with it. Apparently some bastards have overloaded the company’s servers with too much data in an effort to take them offline - and it worked.

45 million people worldwide are curled into the fetal position hugging their laptop and praying that the fail whale goes home.

In other news, a ‘serious’ artist has released a track called ‘Hit Me On Twitter’ on his latest album. The video features tweets popping up on screen describing whats happening…. on screen - in case we couldn’t work it out for ourselves.

Cheers Mistah FAB, no idea how you’ll follow this one up. If you want to catch the video, click here. Maybe even hit the HD button so you can enjoy those tweets as they were intended to be seen.

You can actually hit me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/starsmiff

Fibes, Oh Fibes! - Can’t Be So

I like this. It’s a few years old, and back then, no one really cared if you were using a synth in your tracks. But they did. They went against their critics. This was when everyone was like “OH YEAH ARCTIC MONKEYS ARE LIKE THE FUCKING BALLS, MAN”.

I’m pretty sure that these were the people who made synths cool again.

90% sure.

Miike Snow - Animal (Fake Blood Remix)

The illusive Fake Blood strikes again! I’m a bit slow on the uptake of this one to be honest, and I only heard it for the first time when Russ Chimes dropped it in his DJ set at the awesome Yes Mate Neon Gold party last week. This song KILLS IT on the dancefloor. When that bassline drops at 0:45, mayhem ensues. It’s not even one of those basslines that makes your kidneys rumble. Its just really, really cool.

However, not all credit can be given to Fake Blood, as Miike Snow did an amazing job on writing such an infectious melody that seems somewhere between Passion Pit and Hot Chip. That whistling bit from Young Folks was infectious too, and then it just became ridiculously annoying.

Lets hope that doesn’t happen to Animal.

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars

Not only one of the best songs I’ve heard in the recent weeks, but also one of the coolest videos I’ve seen. This and the new Tron movie trailer that I saw this morning. WHAT A DAY! It just goes to show that not all us remixers are only good at one thing. David Guetta can suck it.

Roof down + Coastline + Sunshine + This song = Total bloody win.

Big up to Disco Dust for featuring this video first.

Passion Pit - To Kingdom Come

I’m gonna be singing this song all day. I’d actually rather people sung this to me, instead of ‘Happy Birthday’. (I turned 21 today.) Just take a listen and try not to sing along really loudly to the chorus.

Possibly my favourite song of 2009 so far.

BEST QUESTION EVER AWARD: “So, hypothetically according to you, I can admire a man’s penis in the shower, but the moment I put it in my mouth, some sort of line has been crossed?”

Damn excited about seeing the movie next week.

Daft Punk - Voyager

They are the founders of modern electro. They wear helmets all the time. They are probably the most influencial pop/electro group of the last 10 years. Who am I kidding. Of course they are. Anyone that questions this fact or says that Homework is better than Discovery is wrong.

I know that Digital Love was one of the first singles I ever bought, back in 2001. The air guitar comes out whenever that track comes on, no matter what. 8 YEARS AGO. Homework was 1997!

Remember these? Released in 1997 aswell. BLOODY AGES AGO.

12 years on and no-one is even close to sounding as good as they did/do. All I know is that i’ve been waiting 8 years for some good new songs (because lets be honest, Human After All was a bit of a let down).

Yuksek - Extraball

I’ll tell you the only thing that i’m not fond of in this track is the female vocals. Theres something about french people singing in English over some grimey beats that is really fucking cool. I’m not so sure that he needed someone else singing the words clearly, as you can tell that he’s the kind of guy that thought “Fuck it, i’m gonna sing on this track and even though I can’t sing half as well as Eoghann Quigg, at least i’m gonna sound really bloody cool.” And really bloody cool it does indeed sound.

Not a clue what the track is about, maybe its an unexplained medical condition.
