If you’re wondering why the blog title is ‘Boobs?’, I just wanted to get your attention. So if you’re here now reading this, it worked, and it’s not me who’s the pervert, it’s you.
Now we’ve got that out of the way, here’s a nice picture.

Still got your attention? Great!
So I just wanted to fill you in on whats going on recently, mainly to let you know what’s happening with my album. If you’re bored already and want a quick update, the answer is that there is not much going on with my album at the moment and there are no plans to release it in the immediate future.
If you want to find out why, please read on…
I spent a lot of time last year working on my album, I stopped all remixes and writing and production for other people from about July through til December, which looking back on it now, was probably quite a silly thing to do. It’s very early days still and as people don’t really know that much about me yet, disappearing for that long isn’t really a great idea. But, I did get about 15 songs finished that I was REALLY happy with. The first single was ‘Give Me A Break’, which was a bit odd. Odd because it sounds absolutely nothing like the rest of the album. That doesn’t mean that I’m not happy with it, because I am, but it was just one of those tracks that was a bit of fun - that turned a bit too serious. That put us in a bit of a difficult situation really in terms of where to go next, just trying to figure out the best song to go with next that didn’t seem like it was a million miles away.
I embarked on some live shows nonetheless, which were a lot of fun. The london show with Guillemots was really something special. I’d been confirmed as the main support on Examples UK tour, which is going on right now, and everyone was really happy with that; including my label. Not really sure what happened next but within 2 weeks there had been a big u-turn, and I had the financial rug (from the label) pulled from under my feet (imagine it as a rug in the shape of a pound sign). They now didn’t agree with the tour, or most of the plans for the album and singles. All in all I kind of realised that there was something very wrong and putting out singles when we had no idea what we were doing would be a stupid idea. Everyone at the label agreed with this. I also realised that in order to get anything released in future and get any more financial backing I’d have to drastically change everything I’d worked on for the last 6 months, and change it in a way that I wasn’t really comfortable with.
After careful consideration, I decided to leave Island Records shortly after that, and when we approached them with our feelings they agreed with what we thought, and we have since parted company. But this isn’t some blubbing story about how I got fucked over or anything like that, I left on great terms, I kept all my songs, and I know I’m gonna work with them in the future, just not for my own stuff.
For the last few months I haven’t touched the album, and I’m not really planning to until later this year. I know that listening back to it now, I can make it so much better. I’m not gonna scrap it at all, just gonna make sure that when I do eventually put it out (maybe next year, maybe in 5 years, who knows) it will be exactly how I want it.
I will be putting out a single this summer, it’s a track I did with Alan Braxe for the album and I love it too much to just let it sit around. Don’t be expecting an album soon afterwards though :) For now I’m writing and producing for a lot of other people again, so there is still a lot for you to hear this year.
Boobs.
